Building the GDPR into every stage of your project - Privacy by Design and Default - Seminar 2017
County Hall, Riverside Building, Belvedere Road, London, SE1 7PB
Thursday 07 September 2017, 10:00 AM - 12:45 PM
This seminar examined the impact of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on healthcare business intelligence – on both market research and data analytics.
"There’s a lot in the GDPR you’ll recognise from the current law, but make no mistake, this one’s a game changer for everyone.”
- Elizabeth Denham, UK Information Commissioner, 17 January 2017

The
Ethics & Compliance Committee’s goal is to help members navigate
the detail of the GDPR, understand how it will impact their businesses
and provide practical advice for members as they prepare.
It made clear the GDPR’s requirements and their implications, focusing on:
- What the regulation requires
- The guidance from the BHBIA, taking into account guidance from the MRS, the ICO and the EU’s Article 29 Working Party
Speakers represented a range of perspectives, including those from
the commissioning client company, the market research agency and the
fieldwork agency, and we were delighted to have guest speaker Dr
Michelle Goddard, Director of Policy & Standards of the Market
Research Society (MRS), with us too. They provided information and
guidance in short, sharp ‘bite sized pieces’ - and made clear the
different roles and responsibilities of the key parties involved in the
MR process. It also included a look at the impact of the GDPR on
secondary data analytics as well as primary MR and attendees had the
opportunity to put their questions to all the speakers.
The GDPR
is going to make a difference to how all those involved in market
research and data analytics handle personal data. With its introduction
less than a year away, now is the time for action!
