Virtual Workshop
BHBIA Captivating the Conference 2023 - How to be an effective public speaker
Via Zoom
Thursday 26 January 2023, 9:00 PM - 1:00 PM
For many, speaking in public is a scary prospect. However, it can also be a great opportunity to display one's credibility and increase one's profile, while delivering knowledge, insight and value to others.
This highly practical, interactive workshop will unlock the secrets to successful speaking, whether at conferences or to similarly large audiences. It will be particularly valuable for BHBIA 2023 Annual Conference speakers.
The training comprises a group training session in the morning, with each delegate then returning for a 30-minute individual feedback session at a mutually convenient time during the afternoon - so please make sure you are free for the whole morning, and have some availability in the afternoon too.
We'll look at subjects such as the importance of preparation, of clarity of message and purpose, and of one's body language, voice and energy levels. As well as the psychological and physical, we'll also look at the key practical elements of powerful presentations, including how to engage your audience, handle questions and take control of the logistics. You will also get the opportunity to deliver, and then receive tailored, 1:1 feedback on your performance.
The course is being run for us by professional trainer Daniel Wain, who won the John Wheeler Award for best conference session at the BHBIA 2021 Annual Conference and has run several successful BHBIA training courses since then.
Delegates at previous speaker training run for us by Danny have said:
"...The relaxed and fun way the host curated the meeting and made everyone feel at ease and comfortable with presenting."
"One-to-one training was very valuable, and gave the chance to gain tailored advice; something I didn't expect on such a personal level."
