BHBIA Spring Virtual Event 2024: Building a Strong DE&I Culture

Virtual Event - via Zoom
Thursday 14 March 2024, 14.30-17.00

The 2024 Spring Seminar covered the topic of diversity, equity, and inclusivity practices within the healthcare business insights sector. This free, online event provided a space for members to gather best practice advice and share experiences within the BI community.

Ranging from embedding DE&I practices within our own organisations, through to the practical steps we can take within healthcare market research and analytics, delegates joined us to discuss and update on the subject.

Full BHBIA members can now download the slides AND tune into the recording of this event - you will need to log in to access the links and passwords - once logged in these will appear on the page below this text.

BHBIA DE&I Mission and Commitment

Join Joel Jitell (Day One Strategy) from the BHBIA DE&I Committee to hear about the new mission and commitment statements to the membership.

Building a strong DE&I culture: Panel Discussion

Bridget Pumfrey (BPR Pharma) will host a panel of representatives to discuss where we have made progress and where we are stalling on DE&I initiatives within the UK healthcare industry. The panel, made up of Ranj Hayre (Just Worldwide), Jeanette Kaye and Asha Varma (HRW) and Angela Lamacraft (Diversity Champion - Institute of Acoustics) will share their experiences, share best practice solutions and highlight the challenges they are tackling.

The BHBIA would also like to thank Simon Barnes - DE&I Committee Chair, and Natasha Patel - DE&I Committee Secretary for their time and support with curating the panel and discussion for this event.

This will be followed by a Q&A session - pose your questions to the panel to join the discussion.

Care Inequalities highlighted through Real World Evidence: NNRD

Tune in for a short video to the BHBIA from Neena Modi, Professor of Neonatal Medicine at Imperial College London, assisted by Max Wheel and Ralph Boyce (The Strategic Intelligence Alliance in Healthcare). Hear how multi-disciplinary teams are working with the National Neonatal Research Database in a project funded by the Medical Research Council, and how in part, this cutting-edge tool can use RWE to shine a light on care inequalities in neonatal care and improve outcomes.”

From analogue to digital: maximising data in the drive for equitable access to medicines

Karen Westaway (ValueBase) will take the conversation forward by presenting a session on the inequities of access to medicines that hide in plain sight. They’re all around us, we just don’t quite know where. Join this session to understand what form those inequities take, what they mean, and how you can use data to shine a light on them. Half the battle with access is being able to see what’s going on to quantify what you’re dealing with. This session will draw on real-world analogues to visualise familiar access challenges, demonstrating how data can help overcome common barriers that drive avoidable variation in access to medicines. Learn about the challenges we face as an industry with inequity and the impact this has on our healthcare system, and the key role analytics play in order to demonstrate impact.

This will be followed by a Q&A session - pose your questions to Karen to open the discussion.

Have Your Say: open discussion

In this final session the BHBIA hosts will guide attendees through an open discussion - ask questions through the Q&A, utilise the Chat facility to connect with your peers or join the hosts on screen to share your takeaways from the afternoon.

Get involved in the conversation and connect in our virtual environment.
