Wednesday 21st July saw the second meeting of the BHBIA Rising Stars Connect Group. Alex Brown and Ben Walker, who lead the Rising Stars Connect Group on behalf of the BHBIA, kicked the meeting off with a round up of the objectives of the group and the plan for the day.

As part of this meeting we were lucky to be joined by two guest speakers, Kelly Warth from Instar and James Macleod from Kantar.

Both Kelly and James hold senior positions in their organisations. They spoke on the topic of their career pathway to date and how they progressed to their current position. We also asked them to share and hints and tips they have picked up that they felt could help the Rising Stars Connect Group membership in their career plans.

Kelly and James gave very interesting and insightful overviews of their career pathways. Feedback from delegates was that the presentations gave them real food for thought about their own career options and both demonstrated that there is no set path to follow. Their top tips, and reflections on the best and worst advice they had been given along the way, were also very well received by our audience.

After our guest speaker presentations the delegates broke out into smaller groups to have a short discussion about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as a topic for the networking groups. A range of very useful feedback was generated from these sessions. This will be used as input into the D, E & I initiative currently being set up by the BHBIA.

The BHBIA would like to thank Kelly and James for taking the time to talk to the Rising Stars Connect Group. It was great for the group to be able to hear from such experienced speakers and to have a Q&A session with them.
