Behavioural Economics - Speakers

John Aitchison, Managing Director, First Line Research
I’m a quantitative market researcher with over twenty years in healthcare business intelligence, and specialisms in online research and methods inspired by behavioural and brain science. I founded First Line Research in January 2004 and helped introduce behavioural economics onto the BHBIA agenda originally. I’ve recently written for the International Journal of Market Research with an idea for an alternative approach to political polling, aimed at minimising potentially distorting biases. I am a former BHBIA Committee member and a Certified Member of the MRS.

Marie Harrison, Partner, Consortium
I’m not your conventional market researcher. Though I did get an MSc in Psychology, and have been a research sister. I also worked in international pharmaceutical market research with MMSL (now part of IMS). And delved into the world of consumer research, and more interesting, esoteric techniques with Quaestor. I’m a former BHBIA Committee member, speaker on training courses, and a BOBI judge. Plus I’m an active member of the AQR, meeting fascinating speakers who I’ve recommended to the BHBA. In 1998, after time as a director at Silver Fern Research, I joined Consortium, sharing the curiosity and enthusiasm of my partners, Jane and Ian. I’ve studied Behavioural Economics and its applications for the pharma and market research industries since 2010.

Chris Harvey, Director of Behavioural and Quantitative Methods at Revealing Reality & Behavioural Science Consultant
Chris is passionate about helping clients to best understand and positively influence behaviour through embracing learnings from psychology and neuroscience. Chris was formerly Research Director at Future Thinking and SMG Insight / YouGov, and has also worked for Dunnhumby and GfK. In 2016 Chris attained a Masters in Behavioural Science (Distinction) from Kingston University. He has an undergraduate degree in Statistics from Lancaster University and his work has been published in journals including the International Journal of Market Research.

Sarah Smith, Qualitative Director, Kantar Health UK
Sarah is passionate about qualitative research and firmly believes that successful research should inspire, enrich and/or challenge. She has spent the last 18 years working in international qualitative pharmaceutical market research.  She first joined Kantar Health in 1999 after completing a degree in Social Psychology. Here, she spent 9 years in the International Specialist Qualitative Unit before setting off to explore life at other agencies. She was delighted to return to Kantar Health in 2016. Sarah is fascinated by people, what makes them tick and the factors that influence their behaviour.
